ABOUT :
Chiodos (pronounced “Chee-Oh-Dose”) is a six-member post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan. Formerly known as "The Chiodos Bros." before the truncation, their name was derived from brothers and directing duo, the Chiodo brothers (Charles and Stephen Chiodo), famous for movies such as Killer Klowns From Outer Space. Chiodos started off playing at the Flint Local 432 a small venue in downtown Flint, Michigan that showcases bands from around The Flint area. From there, the band started touring extensively. Chiodos has toured the United States at least seven times, and have played alongside such bands as Coheed and Cambria and Yellowcard. The band is well known for their onstage performances which include powerful vocals from Craig Owens and circus like antics of Bradley Bell the keyboardist. One of there most notorious live sets was at the New Jersey music festival "the Bamboozle" on May 6th, 2006, in which a plethora of videos were released on YouTube immediately following the show. They currently have a recording contract with Equal Vision Records where they released their debut album, All's Well That Ends Well on July 24th, 2005.
The band opened for Armor For Sleep during their early 2006 winter headlining tour. Fear Before the March of Flames toured alongside Chiodos in the summer of 2006. HISTORY :
Beginnings and All's Well That Ends Well
The original members of Chiodos assembled (under the name The Chiodos Brothers) while attending high school in their hometown of Davison, MI, a suburb of Flint. All's Well That Ends Well (Equal Vision Records) was released on July 26, 2005. It reached #3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and #164 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Bone Palace Ballet and departure of Craig Owens
Chiodos headlined some shows on their own before joining Alternative Press's 2006 "Invisible Sideshow" tour, headlined by Armor for Sleep. Following that tour, they supported Matchbook Romance on the Sub City "Take Action" tour in Spring 2006. That summer, they toured with Fear Before the March of Flames, as well as appearing on the Warped Tour. In fall 2006, Chiodos appeared on Atreyu's World Championship Tour, alongside From First to Last and Every Time I Die, as well as 3 and 36 Crazyfists. Chiodos toured alongside Linkin Parkand Coheed and Cambria in early 2008. The band also toured with Nine Inch Nails and Alice in Chains in Australia during early 2009. They played Warped Tour 2009 on the main stage alongside bands The Devil Wears Prada, Bad Religion, Silverstein, Saosin and Underoath.
Chiodos has had several scuffs with those in the music industry, most notably Steven Smith of Steven's Untitled Rock Show, Andy Williams of Every Time I Die.
On September 24, 2009 the band announced on their MySpace page that they had "let go" of lead singer, creator, and vocalist of Chiodos, Craig Owens.

People close to the band were apparently aware of the tension and acrimony between Owens and the other members but, in the days following this announcement, expressed both surprise at the firing, and curiosity about how Chiodos would proceed without Owens as the "face of the band." Two days after the official statement from the band Owens made his own unofficial statement to a small group of fans mentioning that he was upset, hurt and frustrated by the event and that he was not sure what he planned on doing regarding his musical career in the immediate future.
New Album and Brandon Bolmer
On February 1, 2010, the band announced on their Myspace page that they are set to record their third album with acclaimed producer, Machine (Lamb Of God, Every Time I Die, Cobra Starship), this month. "Entering the studio with Bell will be members Jason Hale (guitar), Pat Mcmanaman (guitar), Matt Goddard (bass), and a recently added drummer, Tanner Wayne (ex-Underminded, ex-Scary Kids Scaring Kids). For the time being, the band has opted to keep their frontman selection a mystery until new music is available but feel "very confident in their decision."
The band planned to keep the identity of their new vocalist a secret until their performance at Bamboozle left, but on February 2, 2010 Alternative Press reported that former Yesterday's Rising singer Brandon Bolmer was the new vocalist. Bolmer later revealed to AP that he was the new Chiodos vocalist and he would no longer be a part of Yesterday's Rising.
In the May issue of Alterative Press the band stated they and Derrick Frost parted ways at the time due to his and Craig Owens inability to get along. The band let Frost go over Owens, and only months later let Owens go. They also stated they had considered bringing Frost back.

With the release of A Shipwreck in the Sand, their fourth and finest album yet, SILVERSTEIN honours their near decade long, magnanimous rule as an empire with 750,000 albums sold and over 1200 shows played. All the while, the benevolent conquerors have shown nothing short of loyalty to their audience and honest devotion to their cause. An unrelenting tour schedule and a sense of artistic accountability suffice to explain how an obscure band with a relevant sound could foster their earliest fanfare into a laudable career: the decade-long allegiance of an audience and the ability to still smack relevant and intelligible with tender aged, new recruits. A Shipwreck in the Sand, for all of its creative maturation, possesses a thematic and aesthetic familiarity that rightly crowns their story.
In 2000, the band formed their union, not in hopes of grandeur but wrought of their youthful love of music and a vision to meld disparate emo, hardcore and metal influences, ranging from the Get Up Kids to Grade, Penfold to Poison the Well. Inside of two years, SILVERSTEIN self-released their first two, somewhat jejune EPs, Summer's Stellar Gaze and When Shadows Beam, attracting a great deal of local attention and testing their road legs in eastern Canada in the process.
In 2002, SILVERSTEIN signed with Victory Records and released their debut album, When Broken Is Easily Fixed, securing their notoriety as the new distinct sound of the post-hardcore or screamo genre. The album set the pace as raw and intense yet melancholic with therapeutically acrimonious lyrics on heartache and betrayal. Such elements would become the legacy of SILVERSTEIN and whatever the genre, it was apparent they were an inspired group, making something original and relevant from the alternative music soundscapes of their youth. The album exceeded 200,000 sales, the enterprise was promising and with a cause worthy of dedication, the band wholeheartedly submitted themselves for the countless thousands of miles of highway ahead.
Their sophomore release, Discovering the Waterfront in 2005, exceeded their first album in both craftsmanship and commercial success, boosting worldwide sales beyond a half-million. Discovering displayed artistic growth as a harder, decidedly more metal album but with seamlessly more pop-sensibility. Audiences were provoked into hysteria and SILVERSTEIN met their every demand. Ever eager to keep their loyalists happy, SILVERSTEIN partook in extensive major tours: the Never Sleep Again tour with Aiden, Hawthorne Heights and Bayside, Europe with Simple Plan, Taste of Chaos, Warped Tour, Japan and Australia and finally the headlining Never Shave Again tour of the United States.
After chartering nearly the entire globe, SILVERSTEIN rerouted their explorative journey through the channels of their own lives for 2007's release, Arrivals and Departures, an album which maps the hardships of a band whose elastic lives are taut strenuously from tour to tour. Even then, tapped into in the depravities of a touring-musician's lifestyle, the band displayed only accountability and gratitude towards their fanbase, producing a lyrically relatable album about hope through perseverance replete with SILVERSTEIN's infamously infectious melodies and dynamism. Never weary, the band continued its inexhaustible campaign of performances on a summer-long tour with Rise Against, followed by a US tour with From Autumn to Ashes, more time spent in Europe, Australia, Japan and a sold out cross-Canada headlining tour with Protest the Hero. SILVERSTEIN's successes detail a history of artistic ingenuity enough to win hearts anew each album and the devotion and fortitude to maintain faithful relationships with their audience.

History :
Early years (2000-2002)
Silverstein formed in January of 2000. During that same year, they self-released their first EP, Summer's Stellar Gaze. After several lineup changes, the band acquired Billy Hamilton, a local fan who learned of the band's need for a bassist on the Internet message board "The 905 Board" (an Ontario area outreach board which used to be for local musicians). In December of 2001, he joined the band after Told helped him learn the music for the songs. Following a rehearsal on Boxing Day (December 26) in 2001, he officially debuted with Silverstein. The next spring, original guitarist Richard McWalter left the band to move to Victoria, British Columbia to study engineering. He was then replaced by Neil Boshart, childhood friend of Shane Told. The new lineup recorded a second EP, When the Shadows Beam, in preparation for their first tour in Eastern Canada. The band signed toVictory Records in October 2002 with a complete lineup as Hamilton attempted to complete his secondary education one semester early.
When Broken Is Easily Fixed (2003-2004)
The January after, the band recorded their first full-length debut CD When Broken Is Easily Fixed, released on the Victory Records label.
| “ | Silverstein's Victory debut is a jarring mixture of emo's earnest determination, elements of hardcore, and the heaviest of heavy metal. While vocalist Shane Told delivers lines like "How can I say I love you back, you never made me happy" in a cracked, soaring singing voice, When Broken Is Easily Fixed actually begins with a ragged scream that's as arresting as his singing is plaintive. Musically, the LP is dominated by the dynamic shifts and driving melodies of emo. But Silverstein's membership was derived from existing hardcore, metal, and punk squads, and these influences are never very far from view. "Last Days of Summer" begins as a June day ends, with shuffling percussion and gently strummed guitars. Discovering the Waterfront (2005-2006)
In 2005 the band performed on the Never Sleep Again Tour with bands such as Aiden, Hawthorne Heights and Bayside—a tour during which Bayside's drummer John "Beatz" Holohan would be killed in a car accident. In January-February 2006, they toured with fellow Canadians Simple Plan in Europe. They then toured Canada with the Taste of Chaos Tour, and also toured Europe, Japan, and Australia. They also performed at the Give It A Name festival at Earls Court & M.E.N Arena in Britain opening the main stage.
The band toured on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, in support of their current studio album Discovering the Waterfront and a compilation album, 18 Candles: The Early Years. The Early yearscompiles the band's first two self-financed EPs with some acoustic and live material as well as a remix of "Discovering The Waterfront" hit "Smile In Your Sleep". Discovering the Waterfrontwas re-released in September 2006 with an extra song, the band's cover of Lifetime's "Rodeo Clown" and a DVD.
In 2006, Silverstein was nominated for a Juno Award in the "Best New Band" category, but lost to Bedouin Soundclash.
In Fall 2006, they headlined the Never Shave Again Tour, along with Aiden, It Dies Today, and He Is Legend.
Arrivals and Departures (2007-2008)
The band's third full-length album, Arrivals And Departures, was released on July 3, 2007, and was designated by AP Magazine as one of the most eagerly anticipated CDs of 2007. Mark Trombino (Jimmy Eat World, Blink-182, Finch) produced the CD. As of early August, the CD had sold 62,000 copies.
Silverstein contributed a new acoustic version of their song "Red Light Pledge" to the Punk Goes Acoustic 2 compilation, released May 8, 2007 through Fearless Records.
Following completion of their third CD, the band played a few shows in the spring, and then engaged in an all-summer tour with Rise Against. The band toured the United States in Fall 2007 with From Autumn to Ashes and then went on a month-long European tour with Blessthefall.
Following tours of Australia and Japan in January 2008, the band played their first "Cross-Canada" headlining tour with Protest the Hero, Ill Scarlettand The Devil Wears Prada, which sold out across the country. They recently completed a U.S. tour with A Day to Remember, Protest the Hero and The Devil Wears Prada. Protest the Hero dropped off the Tour and Pierce the Veil took over for them on a few show dates. After heavy touring for their album, Arrivals and Departures, in Canada, the US, the UK, and other areas in Europe during late 2007 and early 2008, which included the band's 1000th show in Paris, France, the band took the summer off. In a news post on their site, Silverstein's Paul Koehler said the band was "taking a bit of downtown time to write a new album!"
In October and November 2008, the band toured the United States (with a final show in Toronto) with Chiodos, Escape The Fate, Alesana, and A Skylit Drive, during which they performed the newly-written song "Broken Stars", also made available as a demo on their Myspace page. The band played a South American tour in February followed by one show in Hawaii and festival dates in Australia.
A Shipwreck in the Sand (2009 onward)
On December 14, 2008, the band announced by MySpace bulletin that their fourth album would be released by March 31, 2009. The name of the new album, A Shipwreck in the Sand, was announced on January 29, 2009, when the band concluded a viral marketing campaign by revealing the track listing at the album website. A demo version of one song, "Broken Stars" from the new CD had been put on the band's MySpace profile in late 2008 and played during their final U.S. tour in support of "Arrivals and Departures". A clip of a second song, "Vices", was also made available on MySpace, as occurred with the songs "Born Dead" and "American Dream." On March 17, the band filmed a music video for "Vices" with director Robby Starbuck. Later, on March 23, 2009, the band posted the full album to stream on their official MySpace page.
An iTunes bonus track version of the album includes four cover songs, "Help!" (The Beatles cover), Go Your Own Way (Fleetwood Mac Cover), Three Miles Down (Saves The Day cover), and Total Bummer (NOFX cover).
Silverstein contributed a cover version of "Apologize", originally recorded by OneRepublic, to the Punk Goes Pop 2 compilation album.
After three shows in Ontario, the band embarked on a U.S. tour with Norma Jean, Before Their Eyes, and Blessthefall. The band then played several shows on the continent of Europe, and completed a UK tour supporting the Welsh Band The Blackout along with We Are The Ocean,Hollywood Undead and The Urgency. The band completed a small-market tour in Ontario and the Midwestern United States, and played a brief stint on Warped Tour, followed by a show in Anchorage, Alaska and a cross-Canada tour. They played Europe supporting Billy Talent starting November 16 in Bielefeld, Germany through December 4th 2009 in Winterthur, Switzerland. They have announced plans to play four shows in Toronto in March 2010, with each show featuring an album in full. They have also announced that they will be playing on the Toursick tour with A Day To Remember, August Burns Red, Enter Shikari, Veara, and Go Radio from March-May 2010.
On March 15, 2010, Silverstein announced through their official Myspace blog that they would be filming the Toronto shows during which they are playing their entire discography, and are releasing a live DVD 'some time in summer [2010]'.
